Dolphins making fullback cool again. It's Alec Ingold, in the free agent fold

The Dolphins are adding a hammer.

The NFL is zigging but Miami and new coach Mike McDaniel plan to bludgeon their opponents with a different kind of rushing attack.

Enter Alec Ingold, a powerful, pummeling fullback.

Ingold is signing with the Miami Dolphins on a 2-year deal.

Miami has already added shifty running back Chase Edmonds. Now they have a 25-year-old former Wisconsin fullback to clear the way.

Ingold, 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, has only 15 career rushes in three seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders.

No, Ingold's specialty is to blow you up and take you out.

Not surprisingly, Ingold is a former linebacker.  And a wrestler, too.

The Dolphins plan to improve their dreadful rushing attack with a creative plan that focuses on the zone run game.

And Ingold will play the role that Pro Bowler Kyle Juszczyk played in San Francisco for McDaniel.

Ingold is a sneaky decent receiver. But make no mistake. He's being brought to South Florida to lay the wood.

Ingold loves to hit. And the Dolphins need more of that on offense.

A team captain in Las Vegas, Ingold's 2021 season ended with a torn ACL last November, but he's on track for a full recovery in time for the upcoming season.

In other news, the Dolphins are bringing back linebacker Sam Eguavoen, who is a strong special teamer and situational pass rusher.

And former Miami receiver Mack Hollins will sign with Las Vegas on a 1-year deal, according to a league source.

Several hours into the official start of the new NFL league year, the Dolphins had not yet added an offensive tackle.
